There is just something about antique hardware that catches my eye ... it doesn't always jump right out at you, most the time you have to look very closely ... through layer upon layer of paint ...
... and there it is ...
... small details...
... beautiful intricate details ...
every now and then you have to take the time to stop, peel back the paint, and look behind the big picture ... you're sure to find some small detail to appreciate ... that might have otherwise gone unnoticed.
These photos were taken on my last "trip" ... the one I was feeling a little a lot guilty about ... your comments eased my guilt considerably .... especially this one from
Wendy {aka The Happy Homemaker}
"No worries, everything's slower in the summer.And, after all, if we aren't out seeing and doing...what'll we blog about?;)"
Happy White Wednesday friends ... wonder on over to Karen's place, Faded Charm, to get your weekly dose of beauty in white.

I LOVED these hardware pictures. I have an old chippy white metal tool box filled with old hardware like these~ all chippy with layers of paint! So neat to see somebody else shares the same love for something so neat!

I love the details in the photos. So easy to pass by and not appreciate such beauty!! Thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures Jill. It really does start you to wondering about old pieces, who designed it, who built it, who added the finishing touches.
ReplyDeleteI just met Wendy thru the Sorority and LOVE HER!
Thanks for sharing! HAGD! Karen
I also love the old hardware. I'm drawn to it because it has been "used" over and over, again and again, and it's still functional!
ReplyDeleteTake care, Sue
Yes, I absolutely love original hardware on a vintage piece.The house I live in was built in the '30's or '40's and every inside door still has crystal knobs and keyholes...and a skeleton key to match.I was in love as soon as I saw that!
ReplyDeleteI am also attracted to old hardware. I really love it when it has been painted and has a bit of rust on it. Thanks for the psot. XO MARY
ReplyDeleteI'm SURE our hearts must beat at the same time ...
