When planning my trip a few weeks ago to California I started the search for local Flea markets ... you know ... Rose Bowl,Huntington Beach,Ventura,Long Beach, etc ... all these fabulous fleas I hear so much about, I thought I could find at least a handful to check out ... well, I didn't ... NOTHING was happening during my time there ... NOTHING!! ... I was a little a lot DISAPPOINTED! Then I had the bright idea to ask a local Cali girl if she had any "insider tips" for me and she sure did! She pointed me in the direction of The Irvine Antique Market, "The Groves", held on the first Sunday of the month ... Thanks, Amy ... you were a LIFESAVER!!

Can I tell you how hard it was to stop for one brief second to snap off this photo?? At this point I wanted to take off at full sprint and run head first into all the goodness before me. Notice the "Red brick" road stretched out in the for front? ... my eyes definitely view that as the "Yellow Brick" road and the land of Oz awaits just beyond ... the early morning fog really help set the magical stage ...

Row after row .. crammed full of treasure ...

I was impressed how the vendors took the time to set up wonderful displays and vignettes ... paying close attention to a color theme and particular style.

Below was my last stop ... this is where I got "stuck" and spent about a half hour searching thru fabric, pillows, and purses.
I didn't get to see the entire market ... this was the same morning we were going home and only had about an hour and a half to walk around before we had to take off for the airport ... I will make it back someday....

Next up ... I can't wait to share with you my experience at The Urban Barn ... my heart is all a flutter just thinking about that gorgeous store and the fun gals I had the pleasure of spending time with!

We don't have fleas like that in our area... Look like a ton of fun and oh the treaures to be had...

I hope you found some great treasures. I luv the flea markets out here the prices are so much cheaper than the east coast I thought. 85% of our treasures come from local flea markets in So Cal. I hape you enjoyed your visit. Thanks for sharing.....Julian
ReplyDeleteLooks like a place I would like to visit, but a little far away. :D I use to go to the big one here, but there were so many vendors with the imported MIC stuff, so stopped going. Hope to check it out again this Fall. Enjoy your weekend.
